The Bible makes Christians and Christians only.

1 Pet. 4 (NKJV) "11If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen."

Acts 11 (NKJV) "26And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch."

Gal. 3 (NKJV) "16Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ."

Acts 4 (NKJV) "12Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Matt. 15 (NKJV) "13But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted."

Hos. 4 (NKJV) "6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

Matt. 16 (NKJV) "16Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church..."

Gal. 3 (NKJV) "26For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

~Jesus, having all authority, sent the Apostles out to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He also commanded them to teach the disciples to obey the Word of God.

Matt. 28 (NKJV) "18Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20"teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen."

~Today, in order to know how to become a disciple of Christ or to obey The Gospel, a person must go to the Bible read it and/or hear the Word of God preached. In the first century, the New Testament was not yet available for mankind so they relied on knowledge of the Scriptures in the Old Testament, supernatural knowledge given to those who were teaching the Gospel and various letters such as those written by Paul to the churches (Corinthians, Ephesians, Galatians).

Acts 8 (NKJV) "30So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading"? 31And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me"? And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 33In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth." 34So the eunuch answered Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?" 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him."

Isa. 54 (NKJV) "13All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children."

~Today, we have the privilege of and obligation to read the Bible.
(Study: Cessation of spiritual gifts ; tongues & Read 1 Cor. 13)

Rom. 10 (NKJV) "17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

John 6 (NKJV) "45It is written in the prophets, "And they shall all be taught by God." Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me."

~The important thing to notice here is that a person must first hear the Word of God because God's children are taught by God through His Holy Word. The person must understand and believe that the Bible and only the Bible IS the inspired Word of God. God tells us that He inspired the Bible:

2 Tim. 3 (KJV) "16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

~Paul, when speaking to the Corinthians, declared that he had spoken the Gospel to them, by which they were also saved. It is important, to understand what the Gospel is. Paul goes on to tell us that the Gospel (Good News) is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

1 Cor. 15 (NKJV) "1Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you unless you believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,"

~Paul also informs us that Jesus will take vengeance on those who do not know God, on those who do not obey the Gospel of Christ.

2 Thess. 1 (NKJV) "7and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,"

~The question then becomes how does a person obey the Gospel of Christ and come to know God?

Rom. 6 (NKJV) "3Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

~In Rom. 1, God says that His invisible qualities are clearly seen in what He has made, therefore, man is without excuse.

Rom. 1 (KJV) "18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse 21because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, by became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened."

Many people claim that the Bible is corrupt which gives them an excuse not to believe what God (the Bible) says.  This is an excuse for himself and does not change what God has said. A person who does not believe that the Bible comes from God and is God-breathed, cannot be taught by God unless he changes his mind. For unless or until he changes his mind, he is blaspheming the Holy Spirit (Mark 3:29; Luke 12:10). New Testament Documents Are Reliable They are digging up Bible Stories

~Next, it stands to reason that a person must believe what God says in the Bible. Since man cannot add to or take away from the Word of God (see the bottom half of The Whole Counsel of God). We must believe that God exists and that Jesus is the Son of God.

Heb. 11 (NKJV) "6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

John 8 (NKJV) "24Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins... 28Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. 29And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." 30As He spoke these words, many believed in Him."

~A person must repent of his sins.

Luke 13 (NKJV) "3I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."

Acts 17 (NKJV) "30Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,"

~This rules out the need to baptize babies because babies are born in the image of God and therefore have no sin. And, also, babies cannot process the information needed to believe or repent.

Gen. 1 (NKJV) "16Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;"

Eze. 18 (NKJV) "20The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."

~Confession must be made by the person believing that he believes the Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

Rom 10 (NKJV) "10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Acts 8 (NKJV) "36Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized, 37Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

~A person must be baptized into Christ for the remission of sins in order to be saved. It is at the time that a person is baptized that the Lord adds the person to His church.

Acts 2 (NKJV) "38Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit... 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."

John 3 (NKJV) "3Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again,' he cannot see the kingdom of God... 5Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."

~Once a person is a Christian, he must live a faithful Christian life in order to remain in good standing with God and attain eternal life. The doctrine of "once saved, always saved" will cause a person to lose his soul. We see here that the Holy Spirit warns the brethren to beware lest they fall from the living God because of the deceitfulness of sin.

Heb. 3 (NKJV) "12Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,"

2 Cor. 11 (NKJV) "3But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."

~ Can A Christian Sin And Be Lost? Absolutely, he can. When a person obeys the Gospel, he becomes a priest (Rev. 1:6; 5:10) so it is good to study the priests of the Old Testament even though we do not live under the Old Law today (Col. 2:14-15; Heb. 9:15-16). When most people think of priests, they think of the Catholic man in his robes. However, that is not the Bible definition of a priest at all. In fact, nothing like that is found in the Bible. Nadab and Abihu were priests, sons of Aaron, the high priest. They disobeyed God by offering strange or profane fire. It was not the fire that God commanded them to use. Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and devoured them. So, we see that under the Old Law, as well as the New, God's children fell from Grace.

Lev. 10 (NKJV) The Profane Fire of Nadab and Abihu
"1Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. 2So fire went out from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. 3And Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke, saying: "By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people I must be glorified."" So Aaron held his peace. 4Then Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, "Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp." 5So they went near and carried them by their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said. 6And Moses said to Aaron, and to Elemazar and Ithamar, his sons, "Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD has kindled. 7You shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die, for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you." And they did according to the word of Moses. Conduct Prescribed for Priests
8Then the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying: 9"Do not drink wine or intoxicating drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, 10that you may distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean,"

~It may come as a surprise to you, but the Bible tells us that a Christian is saved by many things. Picking and choosing what you want to believe is a deadly road to travel (Matt. 7:13-14). According to God, we are not saved by any "one thing only".

Eph. 2 (NKJV) "4But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),"

Rom. 8 (NKJV) "24For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees" 25But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance."

John 3 (NKJV) "16For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Acts 2 (NKJV) "21And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

Phil. 2 (NKJV) "12Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."

Heb. 5 (NKJV) "9And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,"

Matt. 24 (NKJV) "13But he who endures to the end shall be saved."

Rev. 2 (NKJV) "10Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life."

James 2 (NKJV) "24You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only."
